Emily Pothast is a multimedia artist, lecturer, and writer whose research-based practice considers intertwined histories of media, politics, and belief. She holds an MFA in printmaking from the University of Washington and is, as of fall 2019, a PhD student and Presidential Scholar in Historical and Cultural Studies of Religion at Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA. In addition to Crosscut, her writing has appeared in The Wire, Art in America, Art Practical, Hyperallergic, The Stranger, and The Seattle Review of Books.
