Congressman Dan Newhouse is a lifelong resident of Central Washington and represents the 4th Congressional District. A third-generation Yakima Valley farmer, Dan served four terms as a legislator in the Washington State House of Representatives, representing the 15th Legislative District from 2003 to 2009. He served as Director of Washington state’s Department of Agriculture from 2009 to 2013 before being elected to Congress. Dan earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics from Washington State University. He lives in Sunnyside, where the Newhouse family continues to operate a 750-acre farm growing hops, tree fruit and grapes.
