Stephanie Formas

Formas serves as the Vice President of Challenge Seattle, an alliance of CEOs from 23 of the region’s largest employers tackling the region’s most pressing civic challenges through public/private partnerships. She previously served as the chief of staff for Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan, leading a series of major initiatives including the COVID-19 response. She has also worked for three presidential campaigns and in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Our emergency rooms have transformed into epicenters of care for the overlapping crises of homelessness, substance-use disorder and mental health conditions. Washington State Hospitals Association’s Darcy Jaffe and Challenge Seattle’s Stephanie Formas will discuss potential solutions to the issue to better support patients and hospitals.

The Cascade PBS Ideas Festival brings together journalists, newsmakers, and innovators from around the country to talk about the issues that are animating our cultural conversations. The festival includes live recordings of television and podcasts from The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, Pushkin, NPR and PBS; as well as community meetups, meet-and-greets, food trucks, DJs, and more.
