Karen E. Salinas

Karen E. Salinas is a virtual guest at Crosscut Festival 2022. Born and raised in a tight knit Salvadoran community, she first became interested in working for marginalized and vulnerable populations as a youth living in her own impacted community. After graduating from American University, becoming an EMT, and working with several community based organizations in the city, she moved to San Diego to pursue a MPH. She focused on working with folks who use drugs and engage in the sex trade and bringing a harm reduction perspective to public policy. Salinas has been in Seattle since 2018, where she works for REACH as an outreach provider.

The Cascade PBS Ideas Festival brings together journalists, newsmakers, and innovators from around the country to talk about the issues that are animating our cultural conversations. The festival includes live recordings of television and podcasts from The Atlantic, The New Yorker, The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, Pushkin, NPR and PBS; as well as community meetups, meet-and-greets, food trucks, DJs, and more.
