Join Cascade PBS for a screening of new documentary series, Origins: Lost at Sea followed by a discussion with the filmmaker, Lady Scribe, and key characters. This special event is the debut of the series and chance to look behind the curtain at how the project came together.

ABOUT THE FILM

Origins: Lost at Sea director Lady Scribe shares personal experiences of growing up Black in Seattle and the impacts of gentrification on the Central District. As displacement is an unfortunate reality for many Black residents in Seattle, community members provide glimpses into the challenges faced by marginalized communities in the city past and present. Through conversations with artists, business owners and community leaders, we learn how Black Seattle residents rise above challenges and refuse to be driven out of the city.

ABOUT THE DIRECTOR

Lady Scribe is a publicist and planner at SRE Media Group. She has specialized in public relations, travel and event management for over 25 years. Lady Scribe is an avid lover of film, music, spoken word and exotic destinations. She’s also the founder of The Seattle Sound Music Awards and Family Foundation, a platform championing Seattle’s independent artists and creative community. Lady Scribe is a promising filmmaker and is dedicated to broadening arts and culture in Washington state.

ABOUT THE SERIES

The evening will also include the official unveiling of the second docuseries initiative from Cascade PBS, Origins.
