Presidential primary ballots won’t be cast for many months and the identity of the Democratic nominee likely won’t be clear for more than a year. But it’s not too early for us to dissect the issues that will drive the debates, assess the field of candidates, consider the possibility of an independent challenger and speculate about Donald Trump’s chances of winning a second term in the White House.
