Crosscut co-hosts Civic Cocktail, an hour dedicated to civic knowledge (and conviviality) on the first Wednesday of every month. This December we’ll be looking at both the state of Seattle culture — dance, art and anything else that inspires — and cannabis — medical, recreational, however you like it.
The panelists we've lined up for both are exciting. The ACLU's Alison Holcomb, author of the ground-breaking initiative that legalized marijuana in Washington, and City Attorney Pete Holmes will speak to us about legalized marijuana. Seattle Office of Arts and Culture director Randy Engstrom; James Keblas, director of the Seattle Office of Film + Music; and The Seattle Times' unique local resource, "Seattle Sketcher" Gabriel Campanario will bend your ear about culture. Joni Balter will moderate with input from journalists Joel Connelly of seattlepi.com, Joe Copeland of Crosscut and Deborah Wang of KUOW.
So join us at Tom Douglas' The Palace Ballroom, 2100 Fifth Ave. in Seattle, on Wedneday, Dec. 4. Doors open at 5:30, event begins at 6. Register here with co-host CityClub. Seattle Channel will broadcast it later; you can find all their past Civic Cocktail broadcasts here.
And since we all like to look more informed, and more interesting than everyone else at the watercooler, Crosscut has compiled a list of relevant articles. So, get reading.
