Our first Member event of the year will be Tuesday, Jan. 25, an after-work party and discussion about environmental issues for the coming session of the Legislature. New Members of Crosscut, who joined since October 2010, are invited for this free event. You can become a Member now to be eligible, or come and join at the door. The party will be in the offices of Jones and Jones Architects, 105 S. Main Street in Pioneer Square. The event will be 5-6:30 pm. Our guests for the discussion will be Bill Ruckelshaus, first administrator of the EPA and a leading figure in the efforts to save Puget Sound and local salmon, and Dan Chasan, the senior environmental writer for Crosscut and the author of numerous books on the Northwest environment. Some Crosscut writers and editors will be on hand, including me, and we will have some other guests from the environmental community. It should be a nice, meaty conversation. We'll have complimentary snacks and beverages for our guests. Special thanks to Jones and Jones, one of the world's leading landscape and environmental design firms, for letting us meet in their lovely office.
One of the benefits of being an annual Member of Crosscut is newsmaker events like these. We particularly value your questions and suggestions, and a change to meet you face to face. Our most recent event was a holiday party and officewarming party in December. This year we are making several of the discussion/receptions related to specific themes. I'd welcome your suggestions for topics. I look forward to meeting many of our new Members at this event.
