Two celebrations of the life of John B. Arum, the noted environmental and tribal attorney who died at the age of 49 at the end of August while climbing Storm King Mountain in the North Cascades, will be held in early October. John’s wife, Susan Horman, and his family invite their friends and John’s colleagues to a celebration on Saturday, October 2, at 11 am – 2 pm at Day Break Star Cultural Center in Discovery Park, 3801 West Government Way Seattle (or take the Seattle Metro bus, #33). The program will start at 11.
A second service, on October 6, 2010, will be held at 6:30 pm at Camp Burton on Vashon Island, 9326 SW Bayview Drive., so that the Vashon community can celebrate the life of their longtime neighbor and dear friend, John. All are welcome to both.
Arum died during a hike in North Cascades National Park. His family said he had set a goal to climb Washington's highest 100 peaks and was attempting a solo ascent of the 8,500-foot Storm King Mountain when, apparently, he fell.
