Amy-Jill Levine, a self-described “Yankee Jewish feminist who teaches in…the Bible Belt” is the go-to gal these days for scholarly yet lively wisdom about how Jews and Christians read scripture and think about religion. University Congregational United Church of Christ, Hillel UW, and the Washington Association of Churches are jointly sponsoring four lectures by Levine: “Jesus the Jew: Piety, Prayer, Purity and Practice,” “Understanding the Parables with Jewish Ears,” “How Jews & Christians Read Scripture Differently,” and “Jesus and Judaism; Sex and Gender.”
