To the City Hall insiders worried that finance guru Dwight Dively might not find a spot in the new Mayor Mike McGinn administration, relax: Dively not only is staying on as director of finance, but he'll oversee a revamped and consolidated area of city government including the former departments of executive administration and fleets and facilities, along with management of federal stimulus money, debt management, and financial policy development.
The appointment and realignment were announced this evening on the mayor-elect's transition website, New.Seattle.Gov.
'êDwight'ês integrity and extensive knowledge of city government is critical to our commitment to do more with less,'ê McGinn said in the release. 'êDwight has served Mayors Rice, Schell, and Nickels with distinction. I am honored that he will serve in my administration.'ê
In other appointments announced today, McGinn said Beth Goldberg will be budget director, moving over from the King County budget office; and former State Rep. Kip Tokuda will be acting director of human resources. Also, Fred Podesta, outgoing executive administration director, will remain in a new, as-yet unnamed Cabinet posiiton; and Brenda Bauer, outgoing director of fleets and facilities, will stay on for six months to help Dively with the consolidation of departments.
More appointments are expected next week, the mayor-elect's office said.
