Crosscut held its first Members-only party Thursday night, using the event as a housewarming for our new offices in Belltown and a way to thank lots of new Charter Members. Nice crowd, nice vibes. Thanks to our Marilyn Hoe for all the party prep, to Hale's Ales for the brews, and to ACT for providing a pair of tickets for Sisters' Christmas. And to our many Members who joined in our first Charter Membership campaign.
We had a good question and comment session from our guests. Some good ones: Where'd the name Crosscut come from? Any way to make the comments better to the stories? Why not more stories about Portland? What kind of people read Crosscut.com? When are we going to pay more attention to the Eastside? Will Crosscut reporters protect sources, even to the point of going to jail? How many more conferences on "The future of journalism" can we stand?
We'll have lots more free-to-Members events. So I hope you join. We need your support of course, and last night proved to me and others how much we need your good questions and advice. It's easy to become a Member.
