As I mentioned in this earlier post about Obama-Rossi voters, state pollster Stuart Elway has a new poll which shows Gov. Chris Gregoire leading Republican gubernatorial candidate Dino Rossi 51 percent to 39 percent. On statewide initiatives, Elways says Initiative 985, Tim Eyman's "traffic congestion relief" measure, is leading 49 percent to 33 percent, with 18 percent of voters undecided. The assisted suicide measure, Initiative 1000, leads 55-37. ...
Counting chickens: Everett Herald columnist Jerry Cornfield has uncovered two of Rossi's campaign promises, which the candidate now says would be delayed if he is elected. Apparently, plans to erase Washington's estate tax as well as a proposal to change the way the state funds transportation projects would happen two years from now. ...
Bad accounting: Rossi's biggest financial backer, the Building Industry Association of Washington (BIAW), filed a legal complaint yesterday alleging that one of Democratic Gov. Chris Gregoire's big supporters, Evergreen Progress, has not reported about $1 million in political contributions. On Friday, a King County Superior Court judge will hear testimony on allegations that Rossi illegally coordinated with the BIAW to raise supposedly independent funds to benefit his campaign.
