Washington's Lt. Governor is about to add another title of distinction. According to a press release from Brad Owen's office, he and his longtime adviser Dr. Antonio Sanchez will receive Spain's highest civilian honor: a Spanish knighthood. He can add that to his unofficial collection of offices which include state rock 'n' roll drug czar, roving trade ambassador, and "second in command of state government." The two men are credited by Spain's honorary consul in Seattle with various projects fostering goodwill between the two countries, from Washington's purchase of the high-speed Talgo train to programs to promote the Spanish language to developing a memorial park devoted to Washington's first European settlement (1792), Ft. Nunez de Gaona at Neah Bay. King Juan Carlos I won't make it to the April 2 ceremony, but it will be televised on TVW, which may help locals better understand the man who is just a hooker scandal away from the governor's chair.
