The West Seattle Herald reports the passing of a fine reporter, Tim St. Clair. St. Clair, 57, died Monday due to complications from cancer. He worked at the Herald and Robinson Newspapers for just under 20 years. St. Clair represented the best of a now almost-disappeared form of journalism in Seattle, the community newspaper. Many of the good weeklies, like the old University Herald, are gone or preserved in name only as a shopper with generic content. St. Clair worked for a paper that covers its community with passion and depth. Ballard is lucky to have a similar paper. When I worked in the Seattle mayor's office, I found him to be a nice guy who did a good job. He was fair minded, accurate and dedicate to his craft.
